Cooked Kale


Cook kale in a skillet for a quick and easy side dish.

10 ounce baby kale
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
4 large garlic cloves, sliced
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1/4 cup water
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper


Tear kale into pieces. In a large, deep skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add garlic; sauté until just beginning to turn golden, about 1 minute. Stir in a scant crushed red pepper. Add kale; cook, tossing, for 2 minutes. Add water; cover, reduce heat to medium and steam until kale is just tender, about 4 minutes. Season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Transfer to a bowl; let cool completely.
