Carne Guisada On Rice

2 1/2 pounds boneless round steak, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 (10-ounce) can tomatoes and green chilies, undrained and chopped
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons chopped green pepper
2 tablespoons chopped onion
2 tablespoons chopped tomato
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/8 teaspoon pepper
Hot cooked rice
Jalapeño pepper slices (optional)


Brown steak on all sides in hot oil in a large skillet. Sprinkle with flour; stir well. Add next 9 ingredients. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer 45 minutes or until mixture is thickened. Serve stew over hot cooked rice. Garnish with Jalapeño pepper slices, if desired.
