Buttered Green Peas

1 medium onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 cups shelled fresh green peas, cleaned (about 2 pounds unshelled)
1/2 head lettuce, shredded
1/2 cup chicken broth


Sauté onion in butter in a medium saucepan until tender. Add peas, lettuce, and chicken broth. Cover and simmer 15 minutes or until peas are tender.
