Beer Sauce For Barbecue

1 small onion , chopped
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups vinegar
2 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
Grated rind and juice of 2 lemons
1 clove garlic, minced
3/4 cup beer


Sauté onion in butter in a medium saucepan until tender. Add vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, lemon rind and juice , and garlic; stir well. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 15 minutes. Remove from heat; add beer, stirring well. Use sauce to baste pork during barbecue procedure.
