Basting Sauce

about 1 1/2 quarts

1 quart vinegar
1 cup lard
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 medium lemon, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon garlic salt


Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan; bring to a boil. Cook over medium heat 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Note: Basting Sauce may be made ahead of time.
