4 medium quinces, unpeeled, cored, and sliced
1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup butter or margarine, cut up
2 (3-inch) cinnamon sticks
4 whole cloves
Place quinces in an 8-inch square baking dish.
Combine brown sugar and next 5 ingredients; pour over quince.
Bake, covered, at 375°, stirring every 15 minutes, for 45 minutes or until tender. Remove cinnamon sticks and cloves. Serve compote warm.
