Drinks for Kids
Lemonade, shakes, hot chocolate, and more get huge cheers (and requests for seconds!) from our panel of kid judges.
Kids Rule the Kitchen
To see which sippers were supreme, we invited a group of boys and girls into our kitchen to try some of our drink recipes.
We tried to stump them with healthy kids recipes made from fresh fruit, but they loved the flavor (without even knowing that they were drinking down tons of vitamin C). Find out what other sweet concoctions left the kids asking for more!
Fresh-Squeezed LemonadeFresh lemon juice, sugar, and water are all you need to make this summertime favorite. Jack, 10, says he "would drink this after playing outside." And Brodin, 5, was too busy to say anything, but nodded in approval as he polished off his lemonade.
Hot Fudge Sundae ShakeAll of the components of a classic sundae are blended into this decadent ice cream shake. The kids got a kick out of the crumbled brownie, whipped topping, and maraschino cherry on the top of their glass.
Watermelon CoolerSeasonality is an important factor for this drink because ripe watermelon offers the sweetest flavor. Our panel suggested adding more ginger ale and blending it just a bit more to make it supremely slushy. Sub cantaloupe or honey dew for a fun flavor twist.
Rich 'n' Thick Hot ChocolateA melted dark chocolate bar is the key to this decadent drink. Jack, 10, was quick to figure out the secret ingredient. "I love how you melted a candy bar in it to make it even more chocolaty!"
Yogurt-Fruit SmoothieCalcium-rich yogurt and milk – plus bananas and strawberries – make up this sweet, healthy smoothie. "I would drink it for a snack on a hot, hot, day," says Taylor, 6.
