Better for the Budget

Is it cheaper to make baby food or buy it?

Homemade baby food is usually cheaper if you plan to make and store it in large batches. For example, a large sweet potato costs on average $1 and will give you 3 to 4 servings for baby. Four jars of commercial baby food costs about $2. This cost difference adds up when you consider how much baby food will be eaten during that first year.
