How to Toast Nuts
Fill your kitchen, and tonight's recipe, with the warm, aromatic flavor of perfectly toasted nuts. We'll show you how.
Video Transcript
Toasting nuts intensifies their flavor, and you can toast them in either a skillet or the oven. To toast nuts in a skillet, place chopped nuts in a dry skillet and cook over low heat 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly. (The time will vary depending on the amount of nuts.) The nuts won’t really change color, but you’ll know they’re toasted from the aroma. Be careful though, because nuts can burn quickly. If they start turning dark brown, you’ve cooked them too long.
To toast nuts in the oven, preheat the oven to 350°. Place chopped nuts on a baking sheet, and spread them out into a single layer. Bake about 6 to 8 minutes or until you smell the aroma of toasted nuts. It’s not necessary to stir them. Again, don’t bake them too long because they’ll burn quickly.
