Place the turkey, breast side up, on a rack in a roasting pan. Bake according to the recipe directions, covering with foil to prevent excess browning if necessary. Bake the turkey until it reaches at least 165°, the safe minimum internal temperature. You can cook it to 170° or 180°, if you prefer. To check the temperature of the turkey, insert a thermometer into the thickest part of the thigh.
