How to Make Classic Pumpkin Pie

Yesterday we talked about homemade pumpkin puree--straight from the pumpkin itself--as opposed to the canned version that's available year round. We also talked about all the various, delicious things you can make with pumpkin puree, but today we're going to talk about the classic: pumpkin pie.

This Classic Pumpkin Pie is so easy to make, it's no surprise that it's a Thanksgiving and fall staple. You start with a store-bought pie crust, but you can definitely make your own if you would prefer that instead.

Next comes the filling, which is flavored with pumpkin pie spice and is sweetened with brown sugar. The recipe calls for evaporated milk, which adds to the creaminess of the pie. Once those ingredients are whisked together, you'll add the pumpkin. Most cans of pumpkin puree are 15 ounces, which is about 1 3/4 cups. If you happen to make your own puree, try subbing it in this recipe!

After the pie bakes in the oven, you'll definitely want to top it with sweetened whipped cream. It's made with heavy cream, a little powdered sugar, and it's flavored with amaretto--yum! You can switch up the flavors here if you want.

Take a look at the video to see more about how easy this pie really is. You have no excuse for not making it for Thanksgiving this year!
