I would love to have a salad for dinner every night, but I don't want to take the time to clean it. Can I wash lettuce once and keep it for the week?

Most of the fairly sturdy lettuces, like Romaine, Boston, oak leaf and others, can last 5-7 days after washing if you handle them with care. Be sure to thoroughly dry the lettuce in a salad spinner, then store in a plastic bag lined with paper towel. Don't seal the bag: leave it open to allow excess water to evaporate, and store the bag in your crisper bin of your refrigerator.
