Can I substitute white sugar for brown sugar?

Becky Luigart-Stayner

Brown sugar is made from white sugar (granulated) and molasses, which affects both flavor and texture. If you use white sugar instead, approximate the deeper, more complex flavor of brown sugar by also adding 1 tablespoon of molasses.
