Fresh fish should be cooked within one to two days. If you can't use it within two days, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or freezer paper, place it in a freezer storage plastic bag and freeze. Fatty fish like salmon can be frozen for up to three months, while lean fish like catfish and cod may keep well for up to six months.
