What is the difference between chili powder and Mexican-style chili powder?

Chili powder may be the ground, dried powder from a single kind of chili, or a blend made from one or more types of dried ground chilies and other ground spices. When buying chili powder, the only way to know is to read the label.

If you're making chili, it's generally fine to use whatever type of chili powder that you have on hand.
