Often times, we find ourselves digging for something in the pantry and then can't remember how long it's been since the item was purchased. Here's a quick list of common pantry ingredients and how long they last when stored properly.

Good for 6 Months:

  • Baking soda
  • Baking powder
  • Rice: stored in an airtight container
  • Nuts: stored in an airtight container
  • Oil: Lasts 6 months unopened, lasts 3 months after opened
  • Peanut butter: regular can be stored in the pantry, natural peanut butters should be stored in the refrigerator
  • Brown sugar: stored in an airtight container and away from moisture
Good for 1 Year:
  • Flour: stored in an airtight container
  • Grains: stored in an airtight container
Good for More Than 1 Year
  • Canned goods
  • Dried beans: stored at room temperature
  • Honey
  • Granulated sugar: stored in an airtight container and away from moisture
  • Vinegar: unopened will last indefinitely because of it's acidic nature, opened will last 6 months
