Figs have a quick, shorter season in early summer and a second that starts in late summer and runs through fall. Some of the most common varieties include Black Mission, Brown Turkey, Calimyrna and Kadota.  Keep figs stored in a perforated plastic bag in the refrigerator produce drawers, where moisture levels are higher.
