As the orange-and-black holiday draws near, we thought we'd take a minute to share our Top 5 Favorite Things About Halloween. And no, they aren't Candy, Candy, Candy, Candy, & Candy. (But only because that seems boring).

There are tons of fun things to celebrate about Halloween. Let's get started!

5. Halloween Recipes! Bring on the creativity.

Who needs strawberry compote on top of their cheesecake? Go with ghost-topped Pumpkin Cheesecake instead! Is savory more your style? Why serve pigs-in-a-blanket when you can sink your teeth into Mummy Hot Dogs instead?

4. Cute Halloween Cupcakes

Any excuse to make, decorate, and consume cupcakes is a-ok by us, but having a ready-made theme can make the creative juices flow oh-so much easier. What's up, little guys?

3. Candied Apple Recipes

Besides the fair, which is also, cruelly, in the fall, it's the rare event that we have occasion to dunk our fruit in melty candy or caramel goodness. Half treat, half decoration, all sorts of delicious. Besides, look how adorable the tiny versions are (and much more clean-chin friendly, too, by the way).

2. Easy Pumpkin Recipes

Pumpkin isn't just good for porch-sitting, it's also delicious, and not just in pies. Our sister-site, All You, added the "pump" to pumpkin, stirring the savory goodness into parfaits, pesto, pastas, and more.

1. The Costumes!

Whether you're a Last-Minute Lucy or a Homemade Harry, you've got an abundance of ideas. Go MacGyver this year and see what you can make with the things you find in your floorboard. Or, plan a little ahead and at least search the kitchen for goodies.
