Breakfast at the Tailgate

Sara Gray

We’re well into the fall football season and tailgating parties are in full swing.  Because we are all now ruled, apparently, by the almighty televsion schedule,  we’ve had a number of late morning games and have had to totally revise our tailgating menu to satisfy our morning appetites.  No worries. Any morning that can start off with a mimosa or a Blood Mary is a good morning.

Breakfast and brunch food can be a bit of a challenge in that it’s not that convenient to transport a breakfast casserole to the tailgate spot and serve it from the back of an SUV. Although, if you happen to possess one of those cute casserole carriers, it’s a breeze.  Our group is finding that easy pick-up foods like sausage and biscuts, sausage rolls, sausage balls (all things sausage), banana bread, mini sweet rolls, muffinsfinger sandwiches and cheese straws are perfect for the breakfast tailgate.

This week I’m bringing these easy Sausage Rolls, which I imagine will be devoured as soon as I set them out.  I hope the pitcher of mimosas will last at least until kick-off.

There’s a lot of tailgating still ahead, so I’d love to hear about your favorite recipes.  Particularly those that will make me the most popular girl at the tailgate party.  I live for praise.
