Fabulous Fair Foods
It’s not fall without a fair, but most importantly, fair food. But if you missed the fair this year, we’ve got you covered with recipes that are fried and true (sans the long lines).
Fried Strawberry PiesThe fair only comes once every fall, so spurge a little on these Fried Strawberry Pies. Freeze the pies before to prevent the crusts from disintegrating in the hot oil. Don’t forget to hide one for yourself before they all get away.
Beer-Battered Fried PicklesThere’s nothing better than a crunchy pickle battered and fried. These deep-fried dills are equal parts savory and sour, for a taste we promise you’ll love.
Corn DogsFoods on sticks are certainly fair favorites. These are daintier, fluffier versions of the midway mainstays, but they still go great with the ubiquitous mustard and ketchup combo.
Beer-Battered Fried Onion RingsOn a burger or on the side, onion rings are a fried favorite. Bring the fair to your family with these beer-battered beauties.
Grilled Corn on the CobGrilled in its husk, the corn takes on a wonderful, lightly charred flavor while its sugars caramelize and intensify. Add lemon pepper and butter for the full fair flavor.
Candied ApplesCandied apples are half healthy, right? Nevertheless, make a batch of these and gift the flavors of the fair family and friends.
Caramel ApplesSweet caramel covering tart apples are a fun fair food to make at home. Get your kids to help by letting them roll warm caramel apples in creative toppings.
Boiled PeanutsA brown bag of boiled peanuts are a tempting midway treat. You can find dried peanuts in the produce section of your local supermarket or at a farmers market. Store cooked peanuts in the refrigerator up to three days.
Grilled Chicken LegsChicken legs (and turkey legs) are the most beloved meat on the midway. Make your own Marinated Grilled Chicken Legs laced with flavors of citrus juice and soy sauce. The smoke from the grill will give it that fall flavor you redolent of the fair.

Pulled Pork SandwichThis piled-high Pulled Pork Sandwich is a staple at Southern fairs, whether Carolina-style or Memphis-style, you can’t go wrong.
