New Partners: MyRecipes and MyPlate

MyRecipes is excited to announce that we are part of a new media partnership with First Lady’s Let’s Move! campaign. Along with our colleagues at Cooking Light and Real Simple we are working with Let’s Move!, the Partnership for a Healthier America, and USDA’s MyPlate to give anyone looking for healthier options access to a trove of recipes that will help them create healthy, tasty plates.

The first phase of this partnership centers around the creation of MyPlate boards on Pinterest. These boards will showcase an array of recipes that are inspired by the MyPlate healthy eating guidelines and serve as a tool for families looking for ideas and inspiration for making healthier choices at mealtime.

Every month MyRecipes will be pinning over 25 recipes on these boards including recipes for chicken, slow-cooker, soups and stews, healthy desserts, quick and easy dinners, and kid-friendly meals. You can find our MyPlate-inspired recipes on the MyPlate boards on Pinterest and follow these boards so you’ll get regular updates for new healthy recipe ideas.

To kick off the launch of this partnership, I joined Kathleen Harris, Real Simple (center), Allison Lowery, Cooking Light (right) and representatives from other major media companies across the country for a meeting at the White House and a tour of the White House gardens and kitchen. It was thrilling to hear how passionate the team in the Office of the First Lady is about combating childhood obesity and how we can collaborate on ways to work together to promote MyPlate and Let’s Move!

Stay tuned for more on our tour of the gardens and of the White House kitchen and some “inside scoop” about healthy eating at the White House.
