But what happens when you feel the same way about snacks? Someone’s bound to get hurt. Well, it doesn’t need to be as complicated as dating IRL. All you need to do is just add bacon fat—seriously. Bacon fat is the solution to all of life’s problems. It works exceptionally well in this bacon and cheese Chex Mix recipe.
It doestake some effort. You can’t just dump bacon grease on Chex Mix and call it a day. Life ain’t that easy. The recipe calls for some tossing action and oven time. It’s an amazing way to let the flavors mesh, right along with your feelings.
The key to making this relationship work is to keep a close watch on the oven. Do not—I repeat, do not—let it burn to a crisp. Charred food might be in right now, but not for this. Before you know it, you and your brunchified-snack will living happily ever after.
Bacon Fat and Cheese Chex Mix
2 cups Chex Mix (traditional or cheddar)
4 strips bacon
2 tablespoons bacon grease
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
4 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
How to Make It
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Crumble the bacon into pieces.
Toss all of the ingredients in a bowl until the Chex Mix is evenly coated.
Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Grease with olive or coconut oil.
Bake for 15 minutes, mixing half way through. Make sure the mixture doesn’t burn. Take it out when it’s light brown and toasty.
