Here's a great homemade soup that is quite fast to make.   I made mine with a quart of tomatoes that I canned last summer.  Store-bought canned tomatoes will work just fine too, enough to make 4 cups when pureed.

INGREDIENTS

2 15-oz cans crushed tomatoes
2 cups milk
1 t. basil
1 t. parsley
1/2 t. garlic powder
1/2 t. onion powder
1/4 t. celery seed
1/2 t. paprika
1 t. salt
1 T. butter
1/2 pound dry cheese tortellini

Puree the tomatoes using a stick blender or a food processer.  Combine tomato puree and milk in a large pot on the stove with basil, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, celery seed, paprika and salt.  Bring to a boil over medium high heat.  Turn stove down to medium low, add the dry tortellini noodles and let simmer for 8-10 minutes. When center of pasta is cooked, remove from heat and add butter.

Serve and enjoy!
